Sightseeing in Maremma
There are many places to visit to discover the Maremma and they all have their own peculiarities and as such, it’s well worth a visit or spending a little time there on a trip. We can start by saying that the same Castiglione della Pescaia is worth a visit and also the nearby and very ancient Etruscan city of Vetulonia, the Park of Maremma and the Etruscan town of Roselle.
Then there are the beautiful coastal areas of Punta Ala, very easy to reach (in fact just 14.7 kilometres from Punta Ala is the Castiglione della Riva del Sole 4-star S hotel which also offers a delightful tourist marina; on the subject of marine town, other beautiful places include Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole (with its Spanish forts, coastal towers, la Feniglia) but also Talamone, which offers only 60 km away an ancient Roman villa, a beautiful fortress but also the Aquarium Museum of Laguna (in addition to its beautiful beaches, of course).
A little further up beyond Punta Ala, 20 km from Castiglione della Pescaia, is Scarlino with its beautiful pristine beaches.
Among other things, from Castiglione della Pescaia it is very easy to reach the Tuscan archipelago, and then the Isle of Elba and the Island of Giglio, in a short space of time and at very little expense… If you want to travel a few extra kilometres, then you should definitely take in the still “lively” Etruscan cities approximately 100 km to the south, namely the beautiful Sovana, Pitigliano, Manciano and Sorano.
For lovers of good wine, however, approximately 80 km away is Montalcino … what more do you want from a coastal holiday in Tuscany?
